A man in Oregon, identified as Colin Davis McCarthy, 38, reportedly emptied his family's shared bank accounts before throwing thousands of dollars in cash onto a local highway. He tossed the money out of his car on Interstate 5 near milepost 192, claiming he wanted to "bless others with gifts of money." Several motorists stopped to grab some of the money thrown from the man's car, but Oregon State Police (OSP) were concerned about the hazards posed by the dollar bills that littered the interstate.
The man eventually stopped throwing the cash, but a family member reportedly told police that he had drained his family's shared bank accounts ahead of the stunt. McCarthy was not charged, but OSP considered charging him for creating danger because of his actions. McCarthy's family is now asking anyone who found money on the highway to turn it over to the authorities.
